It’s the final month for Owensboro’s Towne Square Mall in its present form. Gulfstream Chief Operating Officer Ed Ray, told media partner 14News that the last day the mall will be open is September 5th. The Frederica Street side of the complex continues to be redeveloped, with a new location of Planet Fitness coming to the former Burke’s Outlet location. Ray also says a seasonal Halloween store will also remain open. The former Sears location has already been rezoned to light industrial and Gulfstream plans to do the same with the former Macy’s location. Officials say Towne Square Mall has the potential to undergo a revitalization, becoming a dynamic hub for retail, offices, restaurants, and more.
