In early May, the Kentucky State Police paid a visit to the western side of the state to film a motorsports themed recruiting video to air during the summer NASCAR stretch to draw applicants to apply to be Kentucky State Troopers.
The filming featured the National Corvette Museum track in Bowling Green, Kentucky Motor Speedway in Whitesville and also Windy Hollow Dragway in Owensboro.
KSP also needed a race car and a driver to be part of the filming and selected Owensboro’s Scotty Oliver who wheeled Dakota Stroup’s #47 Late Model around the famed Kentucky Motor Speedway.
“First off, I would like to thank the Kentucky State Police for the opportunity to film with them. It was an awesome experience and great exposure for our racing community and my sponsors. I look forward to possibly doing more work with KSP in the future,” said Oliver.
The filming crew also utilized several troopers from the local posts, including Ohio County native, Lucas Atherton.
The recruiting video debuted on Sunday during the Pocono 400 broadcast.
Kentucky State Police and NASCAR both celebrate 75 years in 2023.
