The Daviess County Public Library has changed its policies, and is now considered a fine-free library. According to DCPL social media, the library has wiped out existing late fees and will not be issuing them in the future. The only fine assessed will be if an item is lost and not returned by the 3 week overdue reminder. Those patrons who have at least a $25 fee for un-returned items will not be allowed to check out materials. The standard check-out period will be 21 days and can be renewed twice, followed by 3 weekly overdue reminders. Library cards will remain free to those who live, work, go to school, or own property in Daviess County, and for a fee for non-residents, excluding seniors.
