The Edge spoke about U2's upcoming Las Vegas stand in a statement, which reads:
The beauty of Sphere is not only the ground-breaking technology that will make it so unique, with the world’s most advanced audio system, integrated into a structure which is designed with sound quality as a priority; it’s also the possibilities around immersive experience in real and imaginary landscapes.
In short, it’s a canvas of an unparalleled scale and image resolution and a once-in-a-generation opportunity. We all thought about it and decided we’d be mad not to accept the invitation.
While chatting to Apple Music, Bono explained that U2's Vegas run in the logical extension from rock's earliest days: “Think of when the Beatles came to the U.S. So, they had a tiny little (sound) system, they played in Shea Stadium in New York. Nobody could hear them, it's just the sound of the crowd and they invented 'stadium rock,' we feel like. And then it took every decade, every generation, we became more able to perform, people could hear our music and see the band. This is the next evolution in that, that started with the Beatles in Shea Stadium.”
