US 60 Dragway in Hardinsburg is now under new ownership. The legendary track and property in Breckinridge County have been purchased by the Mattingly Family-Chris, Shelby and Cash of Elizabethtown.
The 1/8 mile drag strip is located on nearly 34 acres, minutes from the heart of downtown Hardinsburg. The track currently has events scheduled through November, but the new owners plan to add some races to the current schedule as well and other events including car shows, test and tune nights and more. The number one priority of the new owners is improving upon the track’s bracket racing program.
The Mattingly family is no stranger to the motorsports community with racing roots dating back to 1985, when Chris’ dad raced stock and super stock classes. Chris climbed behind the wheel for the first time in 2008 and has been “hooked” ever since. Chris currently has two fox-body mustangs that he races in no prep and radial classes.
A track spokesperson informed me that upgrades on the property are already taking place with bulldozers on the property this afternoon.
When asked about the purchase of the track, the Mattingly’s responded: “We are excited to be the new owners of the US 60 Dragway. We are going to put our hearts into this and revive the track. It’s not going to happen overnight, so bare with us, but we’re positive we can make the changes needed to make US 60 a top notch facility again. We can’t wait to see everyone we know, and meet all of the new faces that support this track.”
US 60 Dragway is celebrating 59 years of racing in 2023 and has two events scheduled for the upcoming weekend.
