Governor Andy Beshear is trying to encourage Kentuckians to give blood. The governor Wednesday rolled up his sleeve in Frankfort, holding a picture of Tom Elliott at the time, his friend who was killed in last week’s Old National Bank mass shooting in downtown Louisville. The governor has given blood after Kentucky tragedies before and said he feels like he’s doing the right thing for his friend and for others. He added, “this is what we do as Kentuckians.” Officials say blood supplies have been low across the country since the start of the COVID pandemic and they also say one donation can save up to three lives.
