Habitat for Humanity of Owensboro and Daviess County will be receiving a donation of a work truck from Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline. The vehicle was once part of Southern Star’s fleet, but will be gifted to Habitat on Wednesday.
“We are so honored by Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline’s commitment to our mission of affordable housing for all,” said Jeremy Stephens, Executive Director at Habitat. “This comes right on time as well, as our organization has doubled its efforts in construction in the last 12 months due to the increased need in our community. Meeting this need is paramount to accomplishing our mission, but we could not do it without the support of organizations in our community like Southern Star,” Stephens concluded.
Historically, Habitat Owensboro-Daviess County has averaged 5 house builds annually. Currently the construction has increased to 10 house builds a year. Additionally, Habitat Owensboro-Daviess County will be breaking ground on their first subdivision in the community by the end of 2023. The vehicle will be used by the volunteer construction crew primarily to tow trailers with lumber to build sites.
“Habitat for Humanity has been changing lives in our community for over 35 years, and Southern Star is proud to be a corporate partner and support Habitat’s ongoing mission with this truck donation,” said Karen Goedde, Director of Corporate Communications and Public Relations at Southern Star. An event to turn the keys of the vehicle over to Habitat is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19 is at 1:00 pm at Habitat For Humanities workshop, located at 2930 West 4th Street.
