Bishop said the following about her selection as the new instructional leader at CHES, “Country Heights is rooted in a tradition of academic excellence, which is the result of building strong leaders, both among students and staff, and promoting high expectations. As a passionate educator, I am invested in continuing that tradition and providing equitable experiences to help all CHES learners reach their highest potential.” Bishop said her priorities and background support strong leadership in areas of positive relationships, communication, and academic excellence. “I look forward to serving Country Heights as principal with the same passion and dedication that I have brought to each of my previous roles. Each day as CHES principal, I will lead with the intent to make a positive impact in the lives of those I serve. My focus will always remain on providing a learning environment where students and staff feel safe both physical and emotionally. As the leader, I will hold myself to these expectations while supporting the staff and students as they reach for their goals.”
DCPS assistant superintendent for human services Dr. Amy Shutt said, “The Country Heights principal selection process was completed with integrity and the selection was made from a very strong group of applicants. The process for principal selection was thorough and focused on seeking a leader to continue the culture and instructional success of the school. The committee provided input to Superintendent Robbins with a goal of finding the best leader to support teachers and staff, and someone to work collaboratively with families to build upon the strong foundation of excellence at Country Heights. With the hiring of Ms. Bishop DCPS has identified an outstanding leader who will lead Country Heights on a path to continue high academic achievement and the goal of preparing students to be successful in life. Ms. Bishop is a student–focused, experienced leader, and an overall well–respected educator in our district. She will be a great addition to the elementary principal group.
