(Frankfort, KY) — A bill that would make hazing a crime in Kentucky is one step away from becoming law. The bill passed out of the House of Representatives in Frankfort yesterday and is heading to Governor Andy Beshear’s desk. It is named “Lofton’s Law” in honor of Thomas “Lofton” Hazelwood who died of alcohol toxicity back in 2021 while pledging at the Farmhouse Fraternity at the University of Kentucky. He allegedly had 18 shots of bourbon within 45 minutes. The law would make it a felony to haze anyone to the point of injury or death.
