Eastern Kentucky’s flood victims are getting a big chunk federal funding. The Department of Housing and Urban Development is giving 300-million dollars to Kentucky to help flood impacted counties in the mountains. Senator Mitch McConnell’s office yesterday said 20 counties will be eligible for the funds which will be allocated by the commonwealth. Last July’s tragedy claimed 44 lives and damaged around nine-thousand homes, according to a recent report from the Ohio River Valley Institute.
