Theft in progress lands Owensboro man in Jail

An Owensboro man is in jail after a theft in progress leads to other stolen merchandise. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15^th, 43-year old Joseph Mayfield of the 3300 block of Hummingbird Loop South was observed on the Little Hurricane boat dock stealing items from the property. Mayfield was observed driving a Ford Expedition while pulling a trailer which turned out to be stolen. After a brief chase after several attempted traffic stops, the suspect was apprehended near Valero on West 2^nd. During the investigation, another stolen trailer as well as other stolen property were discovered. Mayfield is currently lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center with a list of charges.
