An Owensboro man was arrested early Wednesday morning after a brief chase. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, at around 2:40am, dispatch received calls that a Lincoln pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed on U.S. 60 West, all over the highway, and had sideswiped a semi. Deputies responded, finding the vehicle and seeing it swerving all over the road. A traffic stop was attempted at 60 and Worthington Road, but the driver failed to stop, resulting in a short pursuit. Deputies were able to pull the truck over on 56 in front of Southern Star. The driver, 56-year-old Michael A. Scott, was taken into custody. Deputies found probable cause that Scott was under the influence, and the owner of the truck said the vehicle had been stolen from a repair shop on West 4th Street on Tuesday. The Sheriff’s office and OPD had been receiving reports Tuesday that Scott was trying to gain entry into vehicles. Scott faces a long list of charges, including Fleeing and Evading, Theft, Criminal Mischief, and DUI.
