The Owensboro Fire Department responded to a fire Wednesday night in the 2300 block of Carter Road. According to OFD social media, units were called to an 8-plex at 9:37pm. There were reports of flames and heavy smoke from an apartment. Engine 3 arrived within minutes to confirm this as a structure fire and proceeded to attack the fire. Other units arrived to do a primary search and vertical ventilation of the roof. Engine 3 then worked to get a quick knockdown that kept this fire confined to one apartment. The resident was able to get out of the apartment uninjured, but lost a pet in the incident. That resident had no serious injuries but was transported to ER to get checked out. The incident in currently under investigation to determine cause and origin.
