(Hershey, PA) — The Hershey Bears’ hockey team has broken a world record again for a teddy bear toss. Traditionally, fans bring thousands of bears and other stuffed animals to throw onto the ice at the Giant Center after the Bears’ first goal of the night. The team didn’t score against the Bridgeport Islanders Sunday, but fans went ahead and began throwing the plush toys with only five seconds left in the game. Over 67-thousand-300 bears and other toy animals were thrown into the rink – that amount was nearly 15-thousand more toys than landed last year. All of the plush animals are picked up and donated to charities in central Pennsylvania. The Bears lost to the Islanders, 0-2, marking the first time the team had a shutout during a planned teddy bear toss.
