PIKEVILLE, Ky. (January 25, 2023) –Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post is conducting a death investigation after a deceased male was recovered from the Levisa Fork River in the Pikeville community of Pike County.
A KSP trooper conducted a traffic stop on US 23. During the investigation, one of the occupants fled from the vehicle and entered the Levisa Fork River. Local fire departments and rescue squads were requested to respond in efforts to assist locate the subject. During the search, Darrel Gooslin, 51 years old of Pikeville, was located deceased in the water. Gooslin’s body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Detective Justin Wireman. Detective Wireman was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Pikeville City Police Department, Pikeville City Fire and Rescue, and Millard Volunteer Fire Department.
