This Sunday, the skyline in Owensboro will be forever changed when the Elmer Smith Station stacks are demolished. The power plant was built in 1964 and it has provided local Kentuckians with power until it was closed two years ago. Demolition is set for Sunday morning, beginning at eight o-clock. Owensboro Municipal Utilities officials say nearby residents will feel the ground shake during the explosion, followed by minor ground tremors. Local law enforcement will be on hand to make sure no one enters the area near the blast.
