The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a firearms discharge in Utica from Monday afternoon. Deputies responded around 1:17pm to the 3900 block of Ronnie Lake Road. Upon arrival, they discovered a gunshot through the glass door, and lodged into a wall inside the house. Of the three residents inside, one was injured by a glass shard. The owner of the residence said her neighbor, 68-year-old Richard Yeckering, had been outside shooting his gun all morning in the direction of their home. That’s when they heard a round shatter the glass of their basement door. A semi-automatic handgun and several spent rounds were found on the suspect’s property. Richard Yeckering was arrested and charged with three counts of 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment. The resident struck by the glass refused medical attention.
