An increase in respiratory illnesses prompted the closure of Union County schools on Monday. The public school district says there has been a steady increase in RSV, pneumonia and flu cases. Officials say the day off along with being off Tuesday for Election Day will help students and staff to recover. It will also give the custodial staff more time to sanitize the schools.
