Investigators now know what caused an Evansville home to explode back in August.
The explosion on Weinbach that killed three people was accidental, the State Fire Marshal announced Wednesday. Investigators say gas had been leaking in the home’s basement for two days before the explosion which killed three people. It’s still unclear what ignited the blast. It’s also unclear how the gas valve was opened. No foul play is suspected.
The blast damaged 39 homes, leaving 11 uninhabitable. A fourth person was injured in the explosion but was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
