Woody Allen is announcing his retirement from filmmaking. While in Europe to work on his 50th film, the longtime director told a Spanish newspaper that his upcoming French-language film will be his last. At 86, he plans to dedicate his twilight years to writing. This announcement comes after he said he “never thought of retiring” at a 2020 press conference in support of his film “Rifkin’s Festival.” Allen has spent more and more time shooting films in Europe as support for his work in the U.S. has sank over abuse allegations concerning his daughter Dylan Farrow.
