A man from Evansville is facing charges after police received a tip about his social media.
Randal Schaeffer’s social media account was last used in 2019, but on it was child pornography. He had uploaded and distributed the illegal content using the account. Schaeffer created the account in 2018 and joined a group that was trading child pornography.
After officers searched for his address, they found out that he doesn’t have one. Officers found his information from the hospital Ascension St. Vincent when he was there in 2018.
Randal Schaeffer had actually called Evansville police saying that he had been convicted of a child molestation offense once before and that he was on the run because people wanted to kill him.
Police found him in a rehab center in Kentucky. He was arrested and booked in the Vanderburgh County Jail early Friday morning. Schaeffer is facing several counts of child exploitation and possession of child pornography.
