OWENSBORO, KENTUCKY – Wendell Foster, a local non-profit agency serving people with disabilities, is holding a yard sale on Friday, September 2 from 7:00 am until 1:00 pm and is asking for donated yard sale items from the community. The yard sale, a bi-yearly event at the campus, raises proceeds for the Wendell Foster Christmas Fund. The Christmas Fund ensures that every resident at Wendell Foster receives a few gifts during Christmas.
“The yard sale is our biggest fundraiser of the year for the residents’ Christmas presents,” said Jennifer Owsley, Director of Recreation at Wendell Foster. “We not only appreciate the donations of items to sell, but also the people who come to the yard sale to purchase the items.”
All donations, except clothes and shoes, will be accepted. Large items such as decor and furniture are welcome. Donations can be dropped off at the Young Building, located at Wendell Foster’s campus on 815 Triplett St. in Owensboro. Items will be accepted on August 30 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, August 31 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, and on September 1 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. For assistance in unloading, call (270) 683-4517.
Volunteers are needed on the day of the yard sale to assist with setting up and tearing down the event. Set-up will begin at 6:00 am on September 2, and tear-down will begin when the yard sale concludes at 1:00 pm. Those interested in volunteering can contact Angela Bumpus, Recreation Nurse at Wendell Foster, at (270) 683-4517 or by email at abumpus@wendellfoster.org
