The Century Aluminum shut down is impacting the Hancock County economy. The plant began the idling process yesterday, leading to employees losing their jobs. Director of Economic Development for the Industrial Foundation Mike Baker says the company accounts for nearly one-million dollars in the county’s tax revenue. Century is projecting a shut down of nine to 12 months.
