On June 6 at approximately 11:02 P.M. EST, Trooper Matt Johnson was responding to a non-injury collision on the Western Kentucky Parkway when he came upon a separate two vehicle collision near the 91 mile-marker on I-65.
The preliminary investigation revealed Chloe Corse, age 19 of Louisville, was traveling north on I-65 in a 2006 Saturn VUE when she lost control during a period of heavy rainfall causing the vehicle to spin before coming to a stop facing south in the northbound lanes. At that time a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo operated by Gerald Bell, age 56 of Bruceton, TN, struck Corse’s vehicle head-on.
Bell and a 25 year old passenger were transported to University of Louisville Hospital for life-threatening injuries. Bell later succumbed to his injuries. Corse reported no injuries from the collision.
The northbound lanes of I-65 were closed for approximately one hour in order to allow troopers to investigate the collision. KSP Post 4 was assisted at the scene by the Hardin County EMS, and the Elizabethtown Fire Dept.. The collision remains under investigation by Tpr. Matt Johnson.
