** UPDATE** – On Tuesday, October 31, 2023, Bronson Anderson also known as Bronson Lindsey pleaded guilty to the following charges and was sentenced to 35 years in prison:
• Attempted Murder – Police Officer (2 Counts)
• Robbery 1st Degree
• Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)
• Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun

The Owensboro Police Department has identified the officer shot over the weekend in an altercation with a suspect.
Officer Jacob Chesher has been identified as the victim in the assault by Bronson T. Lindsey. Officer Chesher was released from the hospital on Sunday.
He sustained injuries that require healing before returning to active duty. A timeline for his full recovery is unknown. He has served the Owensboro community for approximately 2 years. A release from OPD says “Officer Chesher and our Department would like to thank the community for the concern, support and assistance in identifying Mr. Lindsey quickly.”
Lindsey was being investigated for a robbery Saturday night when he had a scuffle with officers, shooting Officer Chesher and stealing his OPD cruiser. Several agencies joined the manhunt for Lindsey, and he was arrested early Sunday in Rockport.
