The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2 in Madisonville is continuing the investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred on February 4 in Webster County. Nathan Cranfield was released from the Hospital in Indiana, and was extradited to Kentucky and is charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, Police Officer. He is currently lodged at the Webster County Detention Center. Cranfield was the individual involved in an incident that stemmed from a welfare check. Chief Todd Jones with the Providence Police Department responded, and Cranfield, of Henderson, was found to be sitting in his disabled vehicle off the side of the roadway. During the contact, an altercation ensued and Mr. Cranfield, the sole occupant of the vehicle, brandished a firearm. Chief Jones discharged his agency-issued firearm, striking Mr. Cranfield.
