Owensboro Middle School defeated Owensboro Catholic to win the 8th grade Mid West Kentucky Athletic Conference (MWKAC) tournament championship last week at Daviess County Middle School. The Red Devils finished the regular season with a 14-2 record, averaging 46.4 points per game, while allowing 29.1 points per game.
OMS started their tournament run with a 63-24 win over Henderson South. They then took on College View and defeated the Vikings 33-29 in the semifinals. OMS would need to avenge a regular season loss as they faced Owensboro Catholic in the championship game. This time, OMS came away with a 46-37 win over the Aces when it mattered the most.
Due to travel concerns with the recent ice storm, OMS administration elected to not have families travel this past weekend to Lexington for the middle school state tournament. OMS finishes the season with 17-2 record, and has won 7 of the past 8 MWKAC conference tournaments.
