Hardinsburg, Ky. (September 29, 2021) – Kentucky State Police Post 4 troopers responded to a fatal collision in Breckinridge Co. Tuesday afternoon. On September 28, 2021 at approximately 5:43 P.M. CDT, KSP Post 4 received a call from the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s office requesting assistance with a collision near the 3,500 block of South KY 259 near Harned. The preliminary investigation revealed, Anthony Coogle age 57 of Leitchfield was operating a 2005 Ford Taurus when he turned onto the roadway and into the path of a 2013 Ford Escape. The Escape, being operated by James Miller, age 62 of Hardinsburg, was traveling eastbound on KY 259. After colliding, Coogle’s vehicle then struck a 2006 Ford F-350 traveling in the westbound lane.
Coogle was transported to Breckinridge Memorial Hospital by EMS where he was later pronounced deceased by the Breckinridge Co. Coroner’s Office. Miller was also transported to Breckinridge Memorial Hospital as a precaution. Adam Moore, age 39 of Hardinsburg, who was operating the F-350 was not injured. KY 259 was shut down for several hours in order to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. KSP was assisted at the scene by Breckinridge Co. Sheriff’s Office, Breckinridge EMS and the Breckinridge Co. Coroner’s Office. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Trooper Brad Holloman.
