June 9th is Nicky Hayden day in Owensboro as the day honors the passing of the late Nicky Hayden. Hayden had the #69 for his motorcycles throughout his career, which spanned from Supersport World Championships to his pinnacle in Moto GP, winning the world championship in 2006. Nicky used the number 69 to honor his father Earl. On this day in 2018, Owensboro honored Nicky Hayden with the unveiling of a permanent statue in downtown Owensboro.
