POP SMOKE MURDER SUSPECT CONFESSED TO KILLING THE RAPPER: According to Complex, the 15-year-old that allegedly shot and killed Pop Smoke confessed to the murder to a person that he believed to be a cellmate. LAPD detective Carlos Camacho testified in a preliminary court hearing last week, saying that the teen confessed to a cellmate at a juvenile detention center back in May. Just six weeks later, 20-year-old Corey Walker, the only adult suspect in the case, also spoke about his own involvement with a cellmate who said they were a gang member. According to reports from Los Angeles Times, that cellmate was actually a plant for the police.
SNOOP DOGG SAYS SERIES ABOUT HIS LIFE IS IN THE WORKS: Snoop Dogg has revealed that a series about his life is in the works. According to Yahoo Entertainment, he said, “I think what makes the most sense to me is the ‘Snoop Dogg anthology,’ the life story of Snoop Dogg, where it starts with my mother and father meeting each other before I was born, to me being born, to me growing through the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. Me being the ‘Black Forest Gump,’ so to speak, seeing me in all of these highlighted moments in American history.” He added, “I don’t see it being a biopic, because I can’t give all of this great information and entertainment in 2 hours. If I give it to you in an anthology, you’re likely to get six or seven seasons of this.”
MALLY MALL SENTENCED TO 33 MONTHS FOR RUNNING PROSTITUTION: According to TMZ, Producer and reality star Mally Mall has been sentenced to 33 months in prison for owning and operating a prostitution business. Mall, born Jamal Rashid, was sentenced in a Las Vegas federal courtroom yesterday (May 13th). He said in a statement, “I respectfully ask you to accept the fact that since 2014, I have not engaged in any criminal activity. I truly apologize to the court, the government and, most importantly, the women involved.” According to court documents, Rashid made millions of dollars through illegal escort businesses that served as fronts for prostitution over the course of 12 years. In 2014, an FBI investigation revealed that he “persuaded, induced, enticed, and caused”
ROC NATION TO LAUNCH GREETING CARD LINE: Jay Z's Roc Nation has partnered with American Greetings for a line of greeting cards, digital e-cards, and virtual paper cards. According to Billboard, the initial products will be an extension of American Greetings’ “Celebrity SmashUps” collection of digital cards, where customers can get personalized messages and custom lyrics from celebrities including Dolly Parton, Michael Bolton, Smokey Robinson, and Shaq. The “Celebrity SmashUps” cards will be available first, followed by a line of physical and virtual paper cards.
