Marilyn Manson may be “canceled” as far as the industry is concerned but streaming figures and digital sales for his back catalogue have climbed in the wake of multiple abuse allegations against him. Billboard reports that total on-demand streams were up seven percent to six million in the week ending February 4th, and his digital sales reached 2,000 for an increase of 40 percent.
The opposite is happening with radio airplay, as Manson’s latest single, ‘Don’t Chase The Dead’, has fallen off Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart after 12 weeks of climbing it.
The abuse allegations were first leveled by actress Evan Rachel Wood along with four other women. Manson was swiftly dropped by his record label, his booking agent, and his longtime manager, and he was cut from American Gods and the Creepshow anthology. Manson has denied the accusations, stating on social media that his former romances “have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners.”
