Mac Webb, who has spend the previous 3 seasons as the defensive line coach of the Owensboro Red Devils, has accepted the head coaching position at Tell City High school. Webb replaces Aaron Clements, who resigned three weeks ago. Clements complied a 8-12 record in his two seasons at Tell City, but lead the Marksman to a 5-5 finish last season, which was the schools first .500 record since 2013.
Webb guided the vaunted Red Devils defensive line for the past 3 seasons, and the OHS defensive compiled an impressive 47 sacks as a unit last season. Last season, Owensboro only surrendered 7.2 points per game, while averaging almost two forced turnovers per game. “We are extremely excited for what coach Webb brings to Tell City football.” said Tell City athletic director Andy Brunner.
Before coming to OHS, Webb spent four season at his alma mater at South Spencer (2013-2016) where he was the offensive line coach, outside linebackers coach, and finished his time with the Rebels as the offensive coordinator. In his final season in Rockport, the Rebels rushed and passed for over 2000 yards while averaging over 30 points per game. In high school, Webb was twice an Indiana all state offensive lineman selection. Webb then took his talents to Kentucky Wesleyan College where he was a member of the NCAA Division II Panthers football program.
“His passion and knowledge for the game stood out throughout the entire interview process. He has had a ton of success in every facet of football he’s been a part of, whether as a player or coach.” added Brunner.
