McLean County shocked the region as the Cougars continued their roll of eliminating regional championship favorites. In the first round of the 10th district tournament, McLean County eliminated Ohio County, who was considered one of the teams that could win the regional crown. Not many gave the Cougars a chance against Breck County who had defeated the Cougars by 7 back on February 1st. Seniors Trey Inglehardt led the Cougars with 13, and Logan Patterson added 12 along with several rebounds. Senior Zach Mimms only scored 4 points but his defense on Breck County star Kaeveon Mitchell was crucial in the outcome. McLean advances to Saturday night’s semifinals.
Breckinridge County saw their season end with a solid 20-10 record. Kaeveon Mitchell, who is the 102.7 The Game/Homers 3rd region player of the year poured in 21 points in his final basketball game as a Breck County Tiger.
