Per KWC Press Release:
The Kentucky Wesleyan College Department of Athletics has established the ONE TEAM Wesleyan initiative, as announced by Director of Athletics Rob Mallory and Senior Associate Athletic Director Mark Shook on Wednesday. The ONE TEAM Wesleyan vision exists to honor the collective, daily efforts of all student-athletes and staff members towards achieving the goals of each team and each department as ONE TEAM for Kentucky Wesleyan College Athletics.
According to Mallory, this initiative will be driven by new and existing programs intended to bring the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers community together. “The ONE TEAM vision pulls together all of our efforts towards the best possible student-athlete experience by aligning our goals with programming designed to prepare our student-athletes and coaches for success now and in the future,” he said. “With this, we also hope to enhance the level of camaraderie and unity within the department and throughout our community.” Building upon the foundation created by The Wesleyan Way, ONE TEAM consists of the four core areas of Life, Scholarship, Sport and Service. ONE TEAM Wesleyan encompasses all 19 sport programs, 400 student-athletes, along with Panther alumni and the Owensboro community. There are numerous programs the ONE TEAM Wesleyan initiative will benefit when it kicks off with a donor campaign on March 16th. “Success can’t be achieved alone,” Shook added. “We all know our chances for success increase when our hearts and efforts are combined and aligned as ONE TEAM. Our team here at Kentucky Wesleyan College consists of our student-athletes, coaches and staff, alumni, faithful fans and community members.”
The weeklong donor campaign will run March 16th-23rd and look to increase the overall family of donors to Kentucky Wesleyan Athletics in support of ONE TEAM. Donations will be ear-marked to support funding that directly impacts the entirety of ONE TEAM Wesleyan. The goal of the campaign will be to build 400 total donors to ONE TEAM Wesleyan throughout the week, matching the number of Panther student-athletes at the beginning of this 2019-2020 academic year. “We look forward to the generous support of those out there who also share the vision of ONE TEAM Wesleyan,” said Mallory. “Each donor, regardless of donation size, will make a significant impact toward our ONE TEAM efforts.” ONE TEAM will engage student-athletes and coaches in programming and events designed to enhance personal, athletic, and social development. Areas of focus will include leadership, health and welfare, academic support, and many more. In
the build-up to the official launch of ONE TEAM the Kentucky Wesleyan Department of Athletics will outline some of the many programs scheduled to encompass ONE TEAM and the Wesleyan campus community. The roll-out of ONE TEAM will continue on a bi-weekly basis until March 16th. Simply put, “when one wins, we all win.” ONE TEAM is meant to serve as a daily reminder of support from alumni, the campus and the community for each other and towards programing and initiatives designed to prepare our “team” members for success in life, scholarship, sport and service.
