Owensboro, Ky. (May 13, 2019) – Owensboro Public Schools has announced that Sydney McFadden has been named
as the district-wide Digital Learning Coach. McFadden has spent the last several years as the Help Desk Coordinator at
Owensboro Middle School North and South.
“I am so excited to continue doing what I am most passionate about,” said McFadden. “That’s helping others to use
technology. I can’t wait to see where this new adventure takes me and Owensboro Public Schools as a whole.”
McFadden will take over the newly created position effective July 1. With the restructuring of the Teaching and Learning
Departments at Central Office as well as the district’s move to Chromebooks from Macbooks for 6-12 grade students
next year, there was a real need for someone that can bridge the gap between instruction in the classroom and the
technical parts of technology.
“Sydney has already, by her own initiative, done several items related to this position,” said OPS Chief Academic Officer,
Matthew Constant. “I am looking forward to seeing what happens as she takes these duties to the district level.”
Among the many duties of her new position, McFadden will be responsible for assisting educators in implementation of
technology standards, mentor staff in effective use of educational technology, collaborate with district instructional staff
to improve student achievement, provide training on digital learning technology and serve on the District Technology
Strategic Planning Team.
McFadden will begin her new role in the district effective July 1, 2019.
