Owensboro, Ky. (March 18, 2019) – Nathan Seaton, an instructional technology specialist with Owensboro Public Schools, was awarded the 2019 KySTE Outstanding Technical Support Award.
The award recognizes and honors a technician or technical support team demonstrating outstanding achievement and leadership in supporting technology to improve education.
Seaton was nominated by GRREC Director of Instructional Technology Terri Stice.
“Nathan is a brilliantly, technically minded individual, but he is unique in the respect that although he lacks the credentials of a Kentucky teacher, he has the heart of one,” said Stice. “Nathan is always willing to share his thinking, processes and products of what is working for Owensboro Public Schools. His work is an example for not only Region 2, but the entire state of Kentucky.”
One of the projects that Nathan has been an integral part of developing recently is the movement of OPS from Outlook to the Google Suite and how that project impacted the entire state. Through his effective leadership, a Gmail community within the state was created and has been a vital resource to tech support teams across the Commonwealth.
In addition to his work in the district, Seaton is an active member of Greater Owensboro Territory Information Technologist group, KySTE and holds several positions within GRREC. Frequently, he presents and shares his knowledge and expertise at the annual KySTE Conference as well as other state and regional events such as KyGoDigital, Kentucky Teachmeet and GRREC events.
“It’s always an honor to be recognized by such a large organization,” said Seaton, “However, I am especially humbled because I was nominated by Terri Stice, one of the best EdTech leaders around.”
Seaton was presented with the award at the KySTE Conference this past Friday and will be recognized during the April meeting of the Owensboro Public Schools Board of Education.
