Taxpayers in Kentucky are footing the bill for the rural Internet plan that was supposed to be paid for by private funds. State auditor Mike Harmon says this week that after investigating the Kentucky Wired program, its largely been a failure since its inception in 2014. Legislators in the state are split when it comes to deciding if they want to continue to build the infrastructure in Eastern Kentucky or if they should scrap the plan altogether. Harmon says his office will continue to investigate what went wrong with the project.
