94.7 WBIO’s popular “Classic Country” will get a boost July 6th in Hancock and Perry Counties when
WKCM-AM 1160/FM 92.1 (Tell City) and 97.9 (Philpot) begin broadcasting the same programming
according to Cromwell Radio Group General Manager Taunya Iverson.
“WKCM-AM has been a country station since it started in 1972 and WBIO since it started in Owensboro
In 1993. More and more we have had requests for WBIO’s “Classic Country” from surrounding counties.
WKCM just recently added the 92.1 FM frequency to Tell City and combined it with it’s 97.9 frequency
located in eastern Daviess County. With that 92.1 addition now is a perfect time for increased the
coverage. “Classic Country” and local information lovers can choose the frequency that best suits them
and also listen on the internet at HancockRadio.Com, TellCityRadio.Com, or OwensboroRadio.com.
There are also APPs “OwensboroRadio” or “iGoRadio” and an Alexa Skill: “Play WBIO”, says Iverson.
Jeff Nalley’s agricultural reports on the Cromwell Ag Network will continue to be featured.
WBIO/WKCM were built from scratch by Cromwell Group, Inc. as were WXCM 97.1, WLME 102.7 and
WCJZ 105.7. They operate in conjunction with WVJS 92.9FM/1420AM, VIBE 100.5, WTCJ 106.7/1230
(Tell City). Our objective is to provide programming choices for the area and also emergency
communication In times of trouble. We have generator power for our studio, WXCM, WLME, WCJZ and
WBIO. “The Community can count on us when in need” said Iverson.
