Kentucky’s fiscal woes are likely going to cost taxpayers in the state in more way than one. Standard & Poor’s on Friday downgraded Kentucky’s credit rating to A from A-plus. S&P said Kentucky’s fiscal mismanagement and relative poverty both played a role in the decision. The downgrade will likely mean that taxpayers in the state will pay a higher rate when the state borrows 281-million-dollars here in the next few weeks.
