An accident that shut down traffic on East 4th Wednesday resulted in both injuries and charges. According to the Owensboro Police Department, they were dispatched to the 2500 block of Highway 144 in reference to a vehicle collision involving injuries. Once on scene, officers determined that a westbound vehicle crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lanes; that vehicle struck an eastbound passenger car and then struck a utility pole. The electrical lines became a hazard to other vehicles and pedestrians. Highway 144 between Commerce Drive and Pleasant Valley Road was closed. A few hours later, the scene was cleared. Crews remained on scene to complete the repairs to the utilities. The driver and passenger of the westbound vehicle were charged as noted below.
