A Daviess County man is facing rape charges in a case dating back to early July. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to an alleged sexual abuse at a Barclay Avenue address in east county on July 2. Deputies and detectives encountered 76-year-old Billy Joe Miles and his adult daughter. A woman had stated to police that Miles had sexually assaulted her at that address the early morning hours. According to the Messenger-Inquirer, the 29-year-old woman had been hired as a home health nurse for Miles. Since July 2, the sheriff’s office, along with Special Prosecutor’s Office of the State Attorney General have been conducting an ongoing investigation leading to Daviess County Grand Jury testimony Tuesday. Following testimony, an indictment was issued for Miles on charges of First Degree Rape, First Degree Sodomy, and Bribing a Witness. Miles was taken to the Daviess County Detention Center, and has since been freed after surrendering his passport and paying $150,000 bond.
