An Owensboro man on trial for manslaughter will represent himself. 65-yr-old Kris Wilhelm Olsson was charged with first-degree manslaughter in the death of George Philhower who died after allegedly being struck by Olsson during a fight in English Park. Daviess Circuit Judge Joe Castlen allowed Olsson to represent himself after angry outbursts from Olsson that public defender Heather Blackburn be removed from the case. He’s done this before. A Utah newspaper reported in 1986 that Olsson was bound and gagged during a hearing after he threatened the judge. Olsson was convicted in 1976 of raping a juvenile; 10 years later he was convicted of sexually assaulting a juvenile and an adult after kidnapping them at knife-point.
