Owensboro Health Regional Hospital has been recognized on the 2015 list of 100 Great Community Hospitals by Becker’s Hospital Review, a prestigious health care journal. Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is the only facility in Kentucky to be named on the list, which is comprised of facilities with fewer than 550 beds and which have minimal teaching programs, according to a Becker’s Hospital Review news release. The list has been compiled every year since 2011, and Owensboro Health Regional Hospital has made the list for the past four straight years. Selection for the list is done by the editorial team at Becker’s, which uses rankings and awards from across the health care industry to make their picks. Owensboro Health President and CEO Philip Patterson said the inclusion of Owensboro Health Regional Hospital on the list is a testament to the quality of work being done there.
“Owensboro Health exists to heal the sick and to improve the health of the communities we serve. Employees throughout the health system have taken that mission to heart,” Patterson said. “We see evidence of that in many ways, and this recognition is a very visible example of that level of commitment.”
Patterson added that this is a success for the entire health system.
“This recognition is a reflection of the outstanding teamwork that takes place throughout the organization,” Patterson said. “I’m proud of everyone at Owensboro Health for this accomplishment, because we earned it by working together to provide world-class care to the people of this region.”
Owensboro Health has earned recognition from Becker’s Hospital Review multiple times in the past on a variety of topics. In 2014, Owensboro Health Regional Hospital was also recognized as having the lowest 30-day pneumonia readmission rate in the country, and the hospital also made that list again in 2015.
